“Foreigners in Beitou” in Worlding Arts, Dance, and Performance Syllabus

當地圖的邊界被打開,身體與思想被世界化的潮流所推進,是否真的就能消除所有的不公並維持恆久的正義?對於落於規範之外的個體,世界化的進程究竟會是毫無疑問的普世價值或是權力中心對被壓迫者的施捨?這學期,張懿文教授「世界化藝術、舞蹈與表演」課程,探討被視為常識的世界主義如何萌芽,又怎麼能理所當然地被接納成為主流價值,被臆想出來的世界村強勢地將所有人歸納在內。 一群充滿熱情並且對文化感到好奇的外國人從世界的各地到達台北,他們知識飽滿而且活力豐沛,對於未知的嘗試總是敞開心胸。我時常與IMCCI(The International Master of the Arts Program in Cultural and Creative Industries, 文創產業國際藝術碩士學位學程)的外國學生們工作,他們帶著每個人不同的文化背景及訓練來到台灣,展現著高度的交流渴望,不少人最終決定根留台灣,他們的情誼從北投開始,溫柔地蔓延至整個台灣,台灣成為了他們壯遊的聚集點。 在這學期的課程當中,我們針對舞動中的身體如何被世界化影響作為討論的主體。以台灣為例,原住民的文化除了在殖民的脈絡中被變形,更在世界化的推進下扭曲成一種從無端的想像所演化而來的國族異趣:在中國及歐美世界,荒謬而表層的原住民舞蹈被華裔群體挪用成難以辨識的文化象徵,在毫無根基的身體中恣意地被取樂著。另外,例如騷莎舞蹈如何在拉丁世界的階級中流竄、日本原住民對身體同一化的辯抗、韓國舞蹈何以征服全球,從中課堂提取出學生們不同背景所引發的辯證。 今年在做為課程的TA我認識了一群新血,他們分別是來自北美洲、中美洲及東南亞、東亞的學生們。這段工作時間,適逢遇上位居北投的在地鳳甲美術館演出邀約,希望藉由外國人造訪北投的這個元素,能在「北投在的姿勢採集計畫」一展中呈現,從舞蹈結合行為來形塑時空片段,將學生們對北投的最初印象回應到每個人所來自的獨特背景。 從我與學生們開始開會討論演出的方向時,我便將自己從作為編舞者的身分中分離出來,將權力交付給每一位參與者,因為這應當是一件以外國人的身體為本質去回應當下及歷史的過程。我們開啟了一連串豐富的想像過程:「我們能在屋頂舉辦派對嗎?像是畢業舞會一樣,我們能在那裏與觀眾聊天、跳舞。」「影子舞呢?在我的國家,影子舞是相當重要的文化資產,我聽說台灣也有這樣的形式。」「你們曾經看過那張美國大兵在北投泡溫泉的歷史照片嗎?那反映了被殖民的背景。我們可以成為照片中的人物。」「我想要讀詩,用不同的語言、不同的視角,用最宏觀的多元性地將歷史給連接起來。」 於是我們這麼做了。在演出中,我們試圖將一群在型塑中的身體在美術館的入口被表達出來:表演者們從一個動作過渡到另一個,以變化的過程蒙太奇式地去呈現在這塊土地上權力交疊、身體更替的歷史,最終,文化裡的外來者身體掛上了白色的布幔,邀請觀眾在他的身上寫下文字,並引領大家到「影子舞」的橋段。「影子舞」的背景是鄧麗君的安平追想曲,故事的題材則是泰國妓女的故事:一名為了現實無奈而以身體賺錢的女人,在獲得了更好的生活條件後回到故鄉並且興建廟宇,卻遭到眾人的賤斥,但他不卑不亢,潛心禮佛。來自東南亞與台灣的女孩們建構了一個多面的史觀,在一首歌之間穿插了泰國、日本以及台灣的身體元素及道具,將他們的文化與北投的文化鏈結了起來,也暗指了女性身體的自主所經歷的背景。接著,來自加拿大的港裔學生及中國學生開始讀詩,將觀眾引領到另一個空間。他們以不同的語言朗誦詩詞,從北投的歷史、風景延伸到當今的語境,並且開啟了演出的另一個通道。在樓梯間,我們將台灣與各個國家的新聞、史料及文章布告在牆面上,作為一個中介空間,樓梯間的屬性模糊了觀眾與表演者的界線,在這裡人們分享知識以及各自私密的觀點,交換彼此的身體所攜帶的訊息,並且藉由網上的流動慢慢地將大家帶往演出最終結束的頂樓。 空曠的樓有自然的微風與夕陽的餘暉,我們擺放了一個木製的泡浴桶,有著拉丁面孔、金色長髮的男學生與一具骷髏在裡面,享受著景觀與熱情的音樂,邀請觀眾到這個開放的地方派對。我們回顧了歷史並經驗了他,現在的世界將由這個當下開啟,而這個許諾的未來將是自由而廣闊的,並且充滿著接納。 我們都是被世界化的身體,理想能成為一位柯夢波丹。在與這些外國學生的工作過程中,我最深的體會是看見了不同的文化背景如何影響著他們的身體觀、工作方式及思考模式,這或許是IMCCI學程最獨特的一個魅力:你能在這裡接觸到太多廣闊的文化面向,而這些新的體驗都會將討論帶往未知的想像,在這裡文化差異因此而被具象化了,成為一個能夠彼此交換的平台,提供人們繼續往前邁進。 文:許生翰

As part of USR project, IMCCI students joined lion-dance workshop in 保德 temple in Beitou. 徐崑庭, an experienced lion-dance performer, taught IMCCI students how to do basic movement with his excellent skills.
